A major security alert was triggered at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday morning after a bomb threat was discovered on an IndiGo flight. The aircraft, flight 6E 3074, was scheduled to depart from Kolkata to Shillong at 9:15 AM. The panic began during the final boarding phase when a cabin crew member discovered a handwritten note inside the plane’s toilet compartment, claiming that an explosive device was on board.
Following the discovery, airport authorities immediately activated emergency protocols. The Kolkata Airport Director confirmed that all passengers were promptly evacuated from the aircraft to ensure their safety. The plane was then taxied to a designated isolation bay, located a safe distance from the terminal and other aircraft, where a thorough security sweep was initiated by the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs.

The sudden evacuation and security checks caused significant disruption at the airport, leaving travelers stranded on the tarmac for hours. Security agencies, including the CISF, cordoned off the area while experts meticulously scanned the cabin and cargo hold. While such notes often turn out to be hoaxes, officials emphasized that they are required to treat every threat with the highest level of caution.
